I think it works! I am reviewing a set right now with my 2 and 3 year old and they can read all the flashcards now - and we only go through them once a day- its been 10 days! I will be giving away the complete Step one set on my blog next week! Stop by and try to win one! :)

I think that you can probably teach a kid to recite what is on the flash cards, but you are not giving your child a firm foundation in phonics which he will need to be a successful reader over a lifetime.
For that I really recommend "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons". I just homeschooled my twin boys through kindergarten and they are reading like champs!
